Angelo Michael Caputo, CPA, 80 years old, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, passed away on Wednesday October 7, 2015, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.  He was born April 7, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Michael Angelo Caputo and Carmela (Millie) Panariello Caputo.

Angelo committed his life to his family, his work, and his community.  He always put 100% of himself into everything he did and was involved until his dementia advanced to a stage where he could no longer participate.  He left a legacy in his work and in his family that will be carried on through generations.

He graduated from Pace University, New York City with a BBA in Accountancy Practice.  He was also a graduate of the British Transportation and Industrial Staff College, London, England and holds a Senior Management Degree.

Angelo went to work for Coopers and Lybrand right after college, traveling to various clients around the country as a CPA, finally relocating to the Washington, DC metropolitan area where he worked as a Vice President/Controller at Kay Jewelers.  He then continued a successful career at Amtrak until he took an earlier retirement as the Controller/Chief Accounting Officer in 1988.  At that time Angelo decided to open his own Financial/Accounting firm where he supported various small to mid-size corporations establishing financial controls, budgets, corporate goals, tax returns and financial statements until 2014.

He never said no to an opportunity to volunteer in his community.  Angelo made an amazing impact wherever he went and will never be forgotten.  He was not interested in the limelight but the guy in the background who got things done.  Highlights of his participation include Dewey Beach Commissioner (1985 – 1993); Sea Breeze Community Association President; Coast Guard Auxiliary Member; Lido Civic Club of Washington Member & Past President; Administrative Judge for the Montgomery Country, MD Board of Appeals.  If Angelo wasn’t busy he was not happy and if he said yes that meant you got 110% of him, nothing less.

He is survived by his courageous wife of 43 years, Edith Ferrarone Caputo; three daughters (aka “his girls”) Joni Baker, Michele Caputo, Wendy Caputo; five grandchildren Casey Thayer, Christopher Hoyes, Lindsey Baker, Courtney Hoyes, Sydney Pizza; great-granddaughter Tessa Thayer.   Also survived by a brother Albert Caputo of Patchogue, New York.

A mass will be held at St Edmonds Catholic Church in Rehoboth Beach, DE at 2pm on Monday, October 12, 2015.  In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made to http://brainsupportnetwork.org/.
