Alice Lee Brittingham, 90, of Felton, DE passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the Milford Center surrounded by her loving family. Alice Lee was born in Salisbury, MD the daughter of the late
Charles and Ora Elizabeth (Adkins) Powell. She was the go to person at Kershaw's Hardware in Rodney Village for many years. Alice Lee was a member of the Harrington Baptist Church, the Avon Club of Felton, the Felton Historical Society and was a charter member of the Friends of Killens Pond. She enjoyed antiquing, shopping, bird watching, feeding and caring for wildlife, gardening, reading, working puzzles and do not bother calling when Jeopardy is on. Alice Lee was a NASCAR fan and an avid fan of Richard Petty. She had an outgoing personality and never met a stranger. Alice Lee could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, anytime. She was a kind, generous, thoughtful person and always enjoyed giving more than receiving. Christmas was her most favorite time of the year and she was always the happiest when the family would all be together for Christmas Dinner. Most importantly she was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, instilling lasting values her family will forever cherish. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Brittingham in 1985; two brothers Frank Powell and William Powell; one sister Helen Bennett, a special nephew Johnny Powell and two sons-in-law Del Glanden and Steven Oldham.
She is survived by her children Joyce Welsh, Shirley Glanden, Pat Robinson and her husband Jim, and Bill Brittingham and his wife Lisa; four grandchildren Mark Glanden and his wife Annie, Matt Glanden and his wife Amy, Billy Brittingham and Ashley Brittingham; one great granddaughter Payten Garcia; and several nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford where funeral services will begin at 1:30 pm. Burial will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica, DE. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the First State Animal Center and S.P.C.A., 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934 or to Debbie's Fund for Animals, 794 Canterbury Road, Milford, DE 19963.
