What the families we serve say...
My husband died peacefully but unexpectedly in our home. I was in no way prepared for the question, " Who do you want to call ...". My brother-in- law reminded me that Lofland's had handled services for Mike's sister. The decision was made and I met Bill Carpenter, in my bedroom, an hour or so after my husband died. He was the epitome of kindness and was so professional, it never seemed odd to have met that way. (Weeks later I thought of how much grace that requires.) Somehow, he led me through some very difficult questions and he sensed from the first moment we met that, however unprepared I was, I had some very definite ideas of what I would want for Mike. He knew from the beginning that I would need to be very involved in planning a unique tribute. He answered all of the questions I had about placement at the Veteran's Cemetery, which was very important to Mike. He met with Mike's sister and I the following day and I left with complete confidence that, even in the midst of all of my confusion, he knew what I wanted for my husband and "he had it". He helped me understand the scope of the services they offered and respected the things I wanted to do myself. He and Connie answered my questions ( probably some of them more than once) patiently and kindly in the days ahead. When the services came, Mr. Carpenter and his associate Chuck Ivins seemed to come out of nowhere just when I needed to answer a question, to be respectful of a time line, or to have something taken out of my hands. I rarely offer testimonials, but I pray I never have to go through this again. I can't offer loyalty or repeat business. I can say that professionalism, kindness and compassion will never matter more than they do in a time of loss. The decision to call Lofland's Funeral Home for my husband's service was the best one I could have possibly made. I am grateful that Mr. Carpenter and his associates were the ones to walk me through a very difficult time and I can recommend without reservation that you allow Lofland's to do the same for you and your family.
