Doris Mae Helmick, 90, of  Milford, DE went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Milford Memorial Hospital, Bayhealth Medical Center. Doris was born in Paw Paw, West Virginia., the daughter of the late Edward "Ned" and Eva (Childers) Hogbin. She worked in downtown Milford as a cashier and buyer at W.T. Grants, Leggets and finally at Eckards, where she worked the longest. Doris was proud to have been a volunteer at Milford Memorial Hospital for 10 years. She loved gardening, reading, football, baseball and NASCAR. She also enjoyed taking a pleasant ride through the country in both Kent and Sussex Counties. In her earlier years, Doris could be found enjoying a day of fishing out on the boat. Doris had also been a very devoted and loving caregiver to her husband, mother and daughter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Earl G. Helmick, in 1998, her grandson Robert Helmick, and her two sisters Eloise Rannels and Ruby Crouse.

She is survived by four children Ruth Willey (Donald), Earl E. "Butch" Helmick (Barbara), DeAnna Thistlewood (Fred), and Eugene Helmick (Holly); a brother Darrel Hogbin, four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford where friends may call from 12 - 1 pm. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
