Major Charles E. "Skip" Venable

Major Charles E. "Skip" Venable, Delaware State Police, Retired, age 74, went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 26, 2017 at home. Skip was born in Bryn Mawr, PA the son of the late Charles Kauffman Venable and Edna (Collins) Carouthers. He was a graduate of Stephen Decauter High School, MD, received his Bachelors Degree from Alvernia College, PA and his Masters Degree from Central Michigan University, MI. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He worked for the Delaware State Police for 20 years, serving in many capacities throughout his career, retiring with the rank of Major. He was a member of the Berean Community Church, Milford. Skip was a devout Christian, for he loved the Lord and was a loving family man. He spent much of his time in evangelism.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Elaine (Hudson) Venable; one daughter Lisa Venable Mild and her husband F. William Mild IV; one son Brett Hudson Venable and his wife Natalie; grandchildren Samantha Mild Bouey and her husband Michael; Andrew Joseph Mild and his wife Anne; Josh Hudson Venable; Daniel Henry Venable, Timothy Charles Venable, and Stephen Joseph Venable; and three sisters Charlotte Holmes, Gladys Jarman and Suzanne Cahall.
A visitation will be held from 10 - 11 am at the Berean Community Church, 2709 Milford - Harrington Highway, Milford where a Celebration of Life will be held promptly at 11 am. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Berean Community Church Building Fund, 2709 Milford - Harrington Highway, Milford, DE 19963.
