Eldred C. "Mac" Magruder, 87, of Harrington, DE passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. Mac was born in Washington, D.C. the son of the late John L. and Mabel V. (Ferris) Magruder. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany during W.W. II and again in the Korean War until 1953. After the war, Mac worked as a switchman for C & P Telephone Company in Annapolis, MD for 21 years. In 1970, Mac moved to Denton, MD to raise chickens, continuing to work for C & P Telephone until his retirement in 1972, and for the Waverly Press in Easton. In 1995, he retired with his wife Nellie to live in Lewes, DE where he could be on the water. In 2005, he and Nellie returned to Harrington, DE so that they could be closer to their children. Mac was quite the craftsman and loved to do woodworking and make furniture. He was an Honorary member of the V.F.W. Post 7937 Greensboro, MD and a member of the American Legion C.K.R.T.  Post #7 in Harrington, DE.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years Nellie (Reppenhagen) Magruder; 2 sons Eldred "Bo" Magruder, Jr. and his wife Debbie and Mark L. Magruder; 2 daughters Marcia L. Rostien and her husband Kim and Linda Magruder and her companion Keith; grandchildren: Corey and his wife Charmaine, Matthew and his companion Jordan, Andrew, Deena and her husband Steve, Chadd, Nelson and his wife Becky, Mark, Jr., Nicholas and Jacob; great grandchildren Ryan, Garrett, Kaylie, Maddox, Patience and Krissy; and 2 nephews: Norman Fifer and his wife Sharon and Ted Fifer and his wife Sherry. The family would like offer their special thanks to Milford Memorial Hospital and the Delaware Hospice Center for their excellent care.
 
A viewing will be held from 11 am to 1 pm on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at the McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, 50 Commerce Street, Harrington, where funeral services will be held at 1 pm. Burial will be in Sharon Hills Cemetery, Dover, DE. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE  19963.
