Salt n Lyght, the praise band at Asbury, have and will miss Bernice. She was a most faithful attendant to the early service, aka our first groupie! I have fond memories of her letting us know when our music was too loud by just her facial expression 🙂. Our sympathy goes out to her whole family and those who knew and loved her. See you when we get there, Bernice. Love ya!

Thank you, Brenda, for sharing your wonderful memories of Mother. She missed attending Asbury. I know what you mean when she let her facial expressions show the music as a bit too loud for her...I witnessed it! 😊 She loved the people of Asbury and missed everyone. She'll always be a part of Asbury.

Cindy, thank you for your thoughts. Mother was one-of-a-kind, loved by many besides us. She is definitely happily reunited with Daddy. That was seen in her face as we said good-bye. We are blessed to have had such wonderful parents.

Thank you, Rev. Martha. Mother loved listening to you on Sunday mornings. God is with us as we learn to go forward without Mother. We need His help with that for sure.

When I worked at the Harrington Senior Center, Bernice always stopped by the desk before or after Bible Study. She told many stories about being a nurse, Harrington and the surrounding areas. She was a wealth of History and information. I admired her love of people in general. Bernice brought in her nursing picture and was proud of her service. As her health declined, I missed those conversations, but still was happy to see that she came to Bible Study and got out to socialize. RIP Bernice.

My memories of Bernice will always be vivid, from the first time I met her at Asbury United Methodist Church. Full of life and quick to let you know what she thought of any topic. Bernice was a welcome friend to join in fellowship with my mother at the church also. We shared so many tidbits of our lives with each other for many months. If I was absent from the praise band for even one Sunday, I knew I had better have an acceptable excuse to give Bernice when I showed up the next Sunday! I always smiled when I saw Bernice and that was a wonderful gift. She always was fun!

Thank you, Carl, for your kind words about Mother. She loved Asbury and the people in it. She loved attending the early service when she could no longer climb the steps to the balcony. And she enjoyed talking with you, your mother and everyone else. Even though she could not attend church these past two years, she faithfully continued to pray and think of her friends at Asbury.
