Shirley A. Mackert

Shirley Anne Mackert, 83, of Milford, DE passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 13, 2021 surrounded by her family. Shirley was born in Harrington, DE the daughter of the late Reynolds and Mabel (Anderson) Kates. She was a graduate of Harrington High School class of 1956 and also a graduate of Goldey  - Beacom College. She was a homemaker, devoted Christian, mother , grandmother and friend. Shirley was a member of Calvary Church where she was the choir leader for 25 years. She was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority as well as the Harrington High School Alumni Association. She enjoyed  painting wooden crafts that  her husband Sam made . Shirley also loved going to Branson with Sam every chance they would get.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years Samuel D. Mackert, Jr.; two sons Samuel David Mackert III and his companion Robbin Chamberlain and Greg R. Mackert and his wife Melody; and three grandchildren Alyssa Rowe and her husband Daniel, Carley Mackert and Ty Mackert.

A viewing will be held from 11 am to 1 pm on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Calvary Church, 301 S.E. Front Street, Milford where funeral services will begin at 1 pm. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE  19963.
