Ronald Dean Ward, 81, of Milford, DE passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2026 at the Delaware Veterans Home, Milford. Ron was born in Milford, the son of the late Carson Ray and Nadine (Walters) Ward. He was a graduate of Milford High School, class of 1962. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, proudly serving our country during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1971. During that time, he was assigned to the USS Long Beach, the first nuclear powered cruiser in Vietnam. After his service, Ron went on to become a computer software engineer, first working as a data processor at Wharton and Barnard in Milford until 1996. He then went to work at Autologue, based in the Midwest, where he did software and also hard installations. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Harriet Ann Holloway, who passed away a day prior to Ron's passing.
He is survived by his son Robert D. Ward and his wife Candy; 3 grandchildren Carson Dean Ward, Rylee Elizabeth Ward and Cooper Ray Ward, as well as Nancy Coverdale Ward.
Graveside services with Naval Honors will be held at 11 am on Monday, April 13, 2026 at Milford Community Cemetery, Rt. 113, Milford, DE. Arr. by Lofland Funeral Home, Milford, DE. Letters of condolence may be shared with the family at www.loflandandmcknatt.com
