Richard J. Willey

Richard J. Willey, 88, of Milford, DE passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2021 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. Richard was born in Lincoln, DE the son of the late Fred and Mary Willey. Richard proudly served in the Delaware National Guard. He was a carpenter by trade and over the years he worked for both Frank Silicato and Donald Downes. After retiring, Richard worked at the Milford Senior Center doing their maintenance for them. Richard loved the Lord and enjoyed traveling with his guitar to local churches to play and sing gospel music. He was a member of the Berean Community Church, Milford and the Milford Senior Center. He loved being outside and took pride in the doing his own yard work and gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister Pauline Willey, and six brothers Ollie Willey, David Willey, Fred Willey, Jr., Virgil Willey, Avery Willey and William Elsbury. 

He is survived by his wife of 41 years Mildred; one son Martin R. Willey and one daughter Debra Sharpe; two grandchildren William Joseph Sharpe and Nicole Marie Willey; two great grandchildren Gabriella Nieves and Lilyana Olivia Nieves; and two sisters Violet Willey and Betty Ashley.

A viewing will be held from 11 am to 1 pm on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at the Berean Community Church, 2709 Milford Harrington Highway, Milford where a funeral service will be held at 1 pm.
