Patricia A. Garey, age 80, of Felton, DE passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, surrounded by her family. Patricia was born in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of the late Harry G. and Helen (Allvord) Jack. She was a graduate of Harrington High School class of 1960. Shortly after graduation, Patricia began work as a secretary with General Foods in Dover, Delaware. She continued work at General Foods until her retirement serving in many different capacities. She was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church since 1950, holding many offices including Membership Chairman, United Methodist Women, The Choir Mother’s Auxiliary, The Builders Sunday School Class, Pastor Parish Relationship Committee, Coordinator of Advent Wreath, and Administrative Council. Additionally, she was a very active member of the Harrington High School Alumni Association. She was the historian for the Class of 1960 for the Harrington High School Alumni Association and served in many other capacities including Treasurer, Vice-President and President. All told, Patricia served the Harrington High Alumni Association for over 40 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Donald LeRoy Garey, Sr. in 2016.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Christine Garey Smith (Norman); her son D. LeRoy Garey, Jr. (Tina); one brother Rusty Jack (Debbie); 4 grandchildren Michael Garey, Emma Garey, Kristen Garey and Steven Garey; her lifelong friends Jerri Outten and Betty Taylor; as well as many nieces, nephews & cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Monday December 5, 2022, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 200 Weiner Avenue, Harrington, DE where a viewing will be held from 11AM to 1PM. Interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington. Arrangements are being made by McKnatt, Carpenter and Baker Funeral Home, Harrington.
