Minge Atkinson Freeberger, 92, passed away from this earthly life on Friday, June 10, 2022, in Milford, DE at her daughter, Catherine's home. Minge was born to Robert Atkinson and Martha McIlwaine Atkinson on January 28, 1930. She was raised in Baltimore City, MD and attended Eastern High School. At her marriage to Walter G. Freeberger, Jr., she moved to Essex in Eastern Baltimore County where she resided until 2017. She was an independent woman who loved her work for Baltimore City Hospitals and later, Francis Scott Key Medical Center when it came under Johns Hopkins umbrella. She retired at the age of 65.
Minge was predeceased by her loving husband, Walter G. Freeberger, Jr., her older sister, Elizabeth Marbury Covington, her mother Martha McIlwaine Atkinson, her father Robert Atkinson, and her sister-in-laws, Helena, Doris and Elizabeth Freeberger.
She is survived by children, Janice M. Imwold and Charles, Catherine A. Wagner and Ben, and Thomas W. Freeberger; her grandchildren, Tiha M. Long, Amanda C. Abney, Toni Freeberger and Charles J. Imwold as well as her sister-in-law Nancy Freeberger.
Though our hearts are heavy, we also take great comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and will suffer no more as she is united with her husband, family and friends who made this journey before her.
A visitation will be held from 1 - 2 pm on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 pm on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, Timonium, MD where she will be buried with her husband.
