Marvin Cannon Sharp, 66, of Milford, DE passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025 at Bayhealth Sussex Campus, Milford. Marvin was born in Milford, DE the son of the late Walter H. and Mary Jane (Cannon) Sharp. He was a graduate of Milford High School. After school, he went to work as a plumber in his father's business Walter H. Sharp and Son Plumbing and Heating. He owned and operated the business for many years before retiring in 2018. Following his retirement, Marvin worked for the State of Delaware as a plumbing inspector for 4 1/2 years.
Marvin was very active in the Milford Community. He was a Charter member of the Carlisle Fire Company Junior members and was currently a life member of the Carlisle Fire Company, where he proudly served at many different board capacities, such as Ambulance Captain, President and Board of Director. He also chaired many committees and projects, and was a mentor to many members. Marvin was also a member of the Kent County Firefighters Association, where he served as a Director and President. Marvin also served on several committees for the Delaware Volunteer Firefighters Association, and for the year 2003 - 2004, had the honor of serving as the President of the D.V.F.A. Marvin was appointed as a Commissioner to the State of Delaware Fire Prevention Commission, serving for 15 years. Because of his unwavering commitment to the Carlisle Fire Company and to the Delaware Volunteer Fire Service, Marvin was inducted into the D.V.F.A. Hall of Fame. Marvin also served on the Planning and Zoning Committee for the City of Milford.
Marvin was a devout Philadelphia Phillies fan and Washington Redskins fan. He also loved going to crab feasts. Aside from the many hats that Marvin wore, he loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Aunt Gladys Sharp.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Donna (Elliott) Sharp; a sister Brenda Sharp; his grandchildren Curtis Sharp, Blaire Sharp and Ezra Sharp; and a great grandson Drake Gray.
A viewing will be held from 11 am to 2 pm on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at the Grier Memorial Hall of the Carlisle Fire Company, 615 N.W. Front Street where services will be held at 2 pm followed by Firefighter Honors. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Carlisle Fire Company, P.O. Box 292, Milford, DE 19963. Arr. by Lofland Funeral Home, Milford.
