Marlene C. Taylor, beloved wife of William C. Taylor, departed this life on October 10, 2023, surrounded by Billy and family. She was born in Deseronto, Ontario on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory First Nations Reserve on January 21, 1950. Interestingly, in a family member’s home, while Marlene was being born upstairs, a wake was ongoing downstairs. The deceased was named Claude, so Marlene received the middle name Claudia!

Marlene graduated from Milford High School in 1969 and attended DTCC to become an LPN. She worked in various medical settings throughout her career, including in the OR at Milford Memorial Hospital. During the second half of her career, she chose to work for VNA. She attended to the needs and comforts of mostly young terminal patients. She was a natural and she loved it. She treated her patients with compassion and humor. Marlene brought the best out in her patients, and they loved her, and she loved them. She held a special place in her heart for Brian and Jacob. She is with them now.
Marlene lived a full life, brimming with ups and downs, laughter and joy, sorrow and malady. She faced all aspects of her life with grit and great humor. She was clever, silly, and hilarious. Her recall of past antics was amazing, and the stories she told about them were side-splitting. Marlene loved Billy, going out on the boat, fishing, collecting prisms and crystals, playing the slots, crafting, buying gifts for everyone, and feeding people. Her love language was cooking and baking food to send home with anyone who entered her realm. She journaled and did crossword puzzles...in INK! She loved ‘real’ country music and staying at the Ditch in the summer. She and Billy threw great parties where she was the “hostess with the mostest” and the ”life of the party.” Marlene loved her newly decorated Mermaid Room and peacefully passed away there with Billy by her side. We are heartbroken, yet we are comforted that she is at peace and no longer in pain. Marlene, we love you forever, and we will miss you always. We will see you again.
A Celebration of Marlene’s Life will be held at Billy and Marlene’s home at 14010 Staytonville Road, Greenwood, DE on Saturday, October 28 from 12:00-4:00.
