Marie Elizabeth Entzian, a longtime resident of Harrington, Delaware, passed away on May 19, 2026, in Annapolis, Maryland. She was 101 years old. She was born to the late Adolf and Veronika Tores in Glen Burnie, Maryland, and is preceded in death by her siblings, Gertrude, Nicholas, Susanna, and John. A devoted wife, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Herman Entzian.
A graduate of Glen Burnie High School, Marie worked briefly as a bookkeeper at Montgomery Ward before marrying Herman in 1948 and starting a family in Mitchellville, Maryland. Living on Herman’s family farm, Marie worked side by side with him in the tobacco fields and graded and packed eggs in the chicken houses. In 1971, they moved to a farm just outside Harrington, Delaware. Marie made motherhood and homemaking her occupation, and found joy in making a meal for family, baking homemade bread and sticky buns, canning and freezing vegetables from her garden, and caring for her chickens. Ever the frugal housekeeper, she stocked her pantry and freezer from her homestead and kitchen whenever possible. She loved to be outside, whether for a casual walk or to work in her flower beds. She enjoyed reading, including her daily devotional, and was an early member of Independent Bible Fellowship Church in Harrington.
She is survived by her four children, William Entzian of Bowie, MD, Joyce Brown of Dickerson, MD (Herbert), Karen Windsor of Owings, MD (William), Christine Gannon of Harrington, DE, thirteen grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Daisy and her son-in-law Raymond.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Independent Bible Fellowship Church, 6797 Milford Harrington Hwy, Harrington, DE 19952. Family and friends are invited to a visitation starting an hour prior, at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
