Margaret C. Owen

Margaret C. Owen, 87, of Milford, DE formerly of Newark, DE passed away peacefully on Friday, December 11, 2020. Margaret was born in Wilmington, DE the daughter of the late Walter and Margaret Catherine (Cauffman) Taney. She worked for the Beneficial Corporation for many years in the credit office. She also was a stay at home Mom. She was active with the Senior Olympics, enjoyed traveling and loved bowling. She was also a volunteer reading tutor for students at the Wilson Elementary School in the Newark School District. She and her late husband Owen volunteered for many years as bell ringers for the Salvation Army. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Owen Owen in 2016; a sister Mary Naylor and two brothers David J. Taney and Walter Taney, Jr.

She is survived by a daughter Peggy Yaeger and her husband John and a son Gary Owen and his wife Lee; 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; one sister Judy Short as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks must be worn and social distancing protocols must be observed by all participating in any aspect of the services. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to either Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE  19963 or to the Food Bank of Delaware, 222 Lake Drive, Newark, DE  19702 attention Development Department.
