Master Sergeant John J. Tice, Retired USAF, 89, of Milford, DE formerly of Wyoming, DE passed away peacefully on June 19, 2021 at the Delaware Veterans Home, Milford. John was born in Germany, the son of Josef and Maria (Rangol) Titze. Enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1957, John served during the Vietnam War, serving over 26 years before retiring in 1983 as a MSGT. For most of his military career he worked as a Passenger Services Specialist, a job he both loved and which suited his personality well. He was an avid stamp collector.
In addition to his parents and one brother, he was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Carmen.
He is survived by his son Raymond Smit (Leigh) of Virginia Beach VA, his son James Titze of Munich Germany, and a brother and sister of Germany.
The family would like to thank the United States Air Force for an interesting and fulfilling career, a comfortable retirement and for providing a caring and dignified place for the last 22 months of Dad’s life on this earth. We also would like to thank the dedicated staff and medical personnel, both current and past, at the Delaware Veterans Home, for their care and consideration of John and his family.
Military honors will be observed at 11 am on Thursday, July 8 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE. Due to rules at the cemetery, flowers are not allowed to be present in the Chapel. Masks are required. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
