M. Carroll McKnatt, 87, of Harrington, DE passed away peacefully on Monday, June 14, 2021 at the home of her daughter. Carroll was born in Bellefonte, PA the daughter of the late William J. Ward, Sr. and Clarice (Shipman) Ward. She was a graduate of Harrington High School class of 1951. She worked alongside of her husband L. Donald McKnatt, operating the McKnatt Funeral Home in Harrington for 40 years before retiring in 2000. Carroll and Donald just celebrated their 70th anniversary last week. Carroll was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Harrington where she taught Sunday school, was a choir mother, served on the church board and was a member of the Mary Martha Circle. She was also a member of the Harrington Historical Society, the Harrington Alumni Association, was a charter member of the Lake Forest High School Band Boosters and served with the Coast Guard Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 4 brothers Henry C. Ward, William J. Ward, Jr., Russell S. Ward, and Robert B. Ward; and a sister Elizabeth Jane Brooks.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years L. Donald McKnatt; 5 daughters Emily C. Dreshfield (Bill), Deborah Scanlan, Lou Ann Stratton, Kathy Kennard, and Becky Gulledge; one sister Julia A. Novak; 6 grandchildren Melissa C. Dreshfield, Robert B. Stratton, J.D. Kennard, Julie Williams, Michael Ford and Kenny Gulledge; and 8 great grandchildren Sara Ford, Alyssa Kennard, Max Lomax, Madison Lomax, Brenda Lomax, Izabella Williams, Blake Williams, and Zach Williams.

Friends may call from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 200 Weiner Avenue, Harrington where funeral services will be held at 1 pm. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Asbury U.M. Church Sunday School, 200 Weiner Avenue, Harrington, DE 19952.
