Lonny Grant Hurd, Jr.

Lonny Grant Hurd, Jr., of Milford, DE passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord Jesus Christ in Bayhealth Sussex Milford on Saturday, September 27, 2025, surrounded by his family. Lonny was born in Milford, DE the son of Lonny G. and Vivian (Crompton) Hurd, Sr. Lonny served his country proudly both in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. He worked as a commercial well drilling supervisor for A.C. Schultes of Maryland. Lonny was a member of the Milford Church of the Nazarene, and a former member of the Carlisle Fire Company. He had a great wit and a dry sense of humor, he never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He loved to travel as well as be in the woods close to nature. But Lonny's greatest joy came from spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, who he loved dearly.

He is survived by his wife Leah Brack Tazelaar, RN; his parents Lonny G. and Vivian (Crompton) Hurd, Sr.; his children Jason E. Boller, Laura B. Boller (David L. Legates, Jr.); his grandchildren Olivia K. O'Day , Aiden E. Boller, Paige B. Legates, Isabella S. Legates, Marceline L. Legates, and Finn D. Legates; sisters Tracy Oechsler and Jenny Shulli; and, as Lonny would say,  a herd of Hurds.

A Celebration of Lonny's Life will be held at 1:00 pm on October 11, 2025 at the Church of the Nazarene, 11 Salevan Place, Milford. Arrangements by Lofland Funeral Home, Milford. Letters of condolence may be shared with the family at www.loflandandmcknatt.com.
