Leona B. Steen Carothers

Leona B. Steen Carothers, 92, of Dover, DE formerly of Greenwood and Milford, DE passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Harmony Assisted Living, Dover. Leona was born in Harrington, DE the daughter of the late William S. and Lena (Drake) Biddle. She was a graduate of Harrington High School and attended Goldey College in Wilmington. Leona began her career as an administrative secretary for the Newton Chemical Company and Supply in Bridgeville, working there for 5 years. She then continued her career as a Dispatch Supervisor for Delaware Electric Cooperative in Greenwood for 35 years before retiring in 1995. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and watching westerns on TV. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 50 years Cleatus Steen in 2007 and her second husband John Carothers in 2016; her twin sister Leora M. Kelly and another sister Sarah Florence Kitchen; and two brothers William Lynwood Biddle and Leon Thomas Biddle. 

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held from 11 am to 12 pm on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford where services will be held at 12 noon.
