Kevin Andrew Williams, a beacon of light, known affectionately as “Sweet Dude”, passed peacefully on November 9, 2024. He leaves a legacy of kindness, creativity and love to all who were fortunate enough to meet him. Kevin was born in Plattsburgh, NY in 1957, lived in Virginia, Florida, New Mexico, New York and was currently living in Milford, Delaware.
Kevin is loved and will be greatly missed by Carla R. Williams, his partner of 50 years, his children: Charles R. Williams (Lorin); and Nori E. W. Richen (Jeffery); and his beloved granddaughters Penelope Sage Williams, Mirabella Marie Williams, and Agatha Louise Richen. Kevin is survived by his mother Mary Williams, his brothers Mark Williams and Michael Williams and his sister Kelly Sydnor. He was predeceased by his father, Robert Williams and his sister Karen Miller. Kevin also leaves his dear friends and in-laws: Chris and Keith Trombly, Robyn Ratliff, Jeffrey Ratliff, Debbie Ratliff, Donald Ratliff, and Michael and Pam Ratliff. There are also many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends whom he treasured.
Kevin was a lifelong artist and carpenter, who took what others saw as broken and discarded, creatively transforming them into inspired sculptures, furniture and more. He loved sports of all kinds, achieving a black belt in karate. He enjoyed time in nature and exploring the world with his loved ones. Many happy times were spent traveling, hiking, biking, and kayaking.
A tall-taleteller, he was quick-witted and funny - enjoying nothing more than making others laugh. He was a silly grandfather and his granddaughters cherished playing with him. His highest priorities were his partner, children, and their families who will be eternally grateful for Sweet Dude’s love, humor and unwavering support.
Kevin had an eclectic career, exploring many opportunities, leaving each better than when he started. He created meaningful relationships with his colleagues along the way, ultimately retiring from Bethlehem Central School District (Delmar, New York)P
