Gerald F. Howard

Gerald F. Howard, 81, of Milford, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at home surrounded by loving family. Originally from Northeastern Pennsylvania, the son of the late Frank L. and Sarah Agnes Howard. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Receiving his undergraduate degree from Bloomsburg University and Master's degree from the University of Denver, Jerry's professional career started in education. He served as an administrator for many years at Keystone College in Factoryville, PA. Jerry also worked as a manager for Philips Medical Systems until his retirement in 2006. He was an active volunteer fireman throughout his life, serving as a member and ultimately Chief of the Factoryville Fire Company in Factoryville, PA. He also became a member of the Carlisle Fire Company in Milford upon moving to the area in 2007. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters Judy Lanni, Susan Howard and Ann Cominsky; and his son Kevin Howard.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol A. Howard; one son Geoffrey (Laura) Howard of Lewes and a daughter Colleen (Jim) Grier of Newark, DE; brother John (Joan) Howard of Emmitsburg, MD; and seven grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 29 from 6 pm to 7 pm at Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Ave., Milford, DE.  Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
