Obituary

Gary Jack Schlegel, 69, of Harrington, DE passed away suddenly on Monday, February 20, 2023, at Bayhealth Sussex Campus, Milford. Gary was born in Milford, DE the son of the late John Greene and Elva (Breeding) Schlegel. He owned and trained harness horses all of his life, and raced at tracks located in Harrington, New Jersey and Maryland. Along with harness racing, he was an avid rabbit hunter and a diehard Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan.

He is survived by his three children Missy Brown, Jeffrey Schlegel and his wife Jennifer, and Jacqueline Schlegel; three sisters Brenda Schlegel and her significant other Gary Calloway, Cindy Boczon and Karen Schlegel; 5 grandchildren Ashley, Jeffrey, Bailey, Tyler and Caylie; 1 great granddaughter Makenzie as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 pm on Friday, March 10, 2023, at the CRYC Choptank River Yacht Club, 10287 River Landing Rd, Denton, MD.  Arr. by McKnatt, Carpenter and Baker Funeral Home, Harrington. Letters of condolence may be shared with the family at www.loflandandmcknatt.com.
