Frederick K. Samsel, MD

Frederick K. Samsel, MD, of Milford, DE passed away peacefully on Monday, September 12, 2023 at Christiana Hospital. Dr. Samsel was born in Reading, PA the son of the late John and Helen (Schutte) Samsel. He received his medical degree from Sapienza University of Rome, in Rome, Italy. In 1985, he moved to Milford and established his practice as well as worked for Milford Memorial Hospital for many years before retiring in 2018. In his spare time, Dr. Samsel enjoyed being on the water where he loved to fish, crab and boat, especially when he visited the Florida Keys. He also had a quick wit and could tell a good joke. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Collette Wazlak.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Diane E. Samsel; his 3 daughters Jennifer (Samsel) Farrelly and her husband Brian, Lauren (Samsel) Lehr and her husband Eric, and Ashley Samsel; 6 grandchildren Aiden, Brielle, Liam, Logan, Miles, and Bailey; a brother Eugene Samsel; two sisters Helene Samsel and Frances Rogers; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 6 - 8 pm on Friday, September 15, 2023 at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 506 Seabury Avenue, Milford. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Doggone Happy Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 596, Greenwood, DE  19950.
