Elverta W. "Sis" Manley

Elverta W. “Sis” Manley, 87, of Harrington, DE passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at home. Elverta was born in Rustburg, VA and spent most of her adult life in New Jersey, the daughter of the late Thomas S. and Helen Penolia (Grayham) Clarke.

She worked at Jersey Shore Medical Center for many years and the last 25 as a LPN. 

For Elverta, family was everything. She loved spending time with her children and especially doting on her grandchildren. For 26 years she loved attending her family's annual Mother Daughter Celebrations.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband John W. Manley in 2012. They had been married for 57 years at the time. She was also predeceased by her brothers William Thomas Clarke, Elverette Burnette Clarke, Walter Elmo Clarke, Samuel David Clarke, and Charles Suta Clarke.

She is survived by her three daughters Patricia White and husband James, Jean Manley and Joan Manley; and one son Johnny Manley; five grandchildren Darnell (D.J.) Manley, Jordan Manley, Devin Manley, Elisha White and Ethan White, one great grandchild, Matthew Manley and her loving and devoted friend since 1952, Lela Cleckley; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Elverta's Life will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Crossroad Community Church, 20684 State Forest Road, Georgetown where friends may call from 1-2 pm. Committal services will be at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, October 27, 2020. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to Crossroad Community Church benevolence fund, 20684 State Forest Road, Georgetown, DE  19947.
