Debora “Debbie” Jean Elders Byers passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025 surrounded by her family. Born August 27, 1969 at Dover Air Force Base hospital, Dover, DE, Debbie was such a bright light to her family and a woman with a laugh that could fill a room and a smile that could make anyone’s day better. She was the heartbeat of the family.
Debbie resided in the Milford area most of her life graduating from Milford Senior High School in 1987. Debbie earned a master’s degree in accounting from Delaware State University shortly thereafter. For the past 20 years Debbie worked at the Kent County Levy Court as a Finance Supervisor.
Debbie was a selfless person who loved to help people often going far out of her way to provide whatever someone needed even if they didn’t know they needed it. She had a strong personality and was a fierce advocate for things she believed in. She had a very close relationship with God and it is a comfort to her family that she is with her heavenly Father.
Debbie’s favorite things were taking care of her cats and her dog Jackson, swimming in her pool and spending time with her family and friends. Debbie was the person in the family to reach out and organize family get togethers. She was an amazing wife, extraordinary mother, incredible daughter, sister and aunt, and for those lucky enough to know her a true friend. She was a wonderful person who will be missed beyond compare.
Debbie is lovingly remembered by her spouse of 10 years, John Byers; her son, Scott Haymond (fiancé Alana Evans); step-children, Oliver Byers and Nicole Byers; her mother and father, Julie and Claude Warnick; her sisters and brother, Tonieanne Lord (fiancé Stevan Sheek), Cathy Wolfe (Ken), Anthony Elders; sister-in-law, Luann Byers; her nieces and nephews, Sheana Lord, Ryan Wolfe, Megan Wolfe, and Mason Elders.
