On Monday evening, December 18 th , 2023, David Swain, of Lewes, DE was unexpectedly called home to heaven. David was a very kind and caring individual in all that he did. He was born August 15 th , 1984. From an early age, he battled diabetes throughout his life and still always had a smile and a joke for anyone in need. He graduated from Sussex Tech and worked in the restaurant business for years. He most recently worked at Arena’s Deli.
David is survived by his mother Dot Swain of Monroe, North Carolina, who wants it known that though she carried him under her heart for nine months, that she will carry him in her heart forever. David is also survived by his father Roger Swain and stepmother Ada Gonzalez of Milford, Delaware; also, by his brother Jeff Swain, his sister-in-law Laddie, and nephews Gavin and Grayson of Indian Trail, North Carolina; also, by his brother Cameron Swain, his sister-in-law Cheryl, and nephew Kayson and niece Gracelynn, of Lincoln, Delaware. David will be missed by many aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as countless friends.
David had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious smile! Through jokes and stories, he loved making people smile. His intense love of football (especially the Dallas Cowboys) often gave him plenty of attention amidst the sea of other football fans, but his warmth, personal charm, and passion for sports, including professional wrestling, endeared even the mildest fans.
There will be a Memorial Service and Celebration of Life Saturday, December 30 th beginning at 10 a.m, at the Coolspring Presbyterian Church located at 28843 Log Cabin Hill Road, Lewes, Delaware. The service will be officiated by David’s brother, Reverend Cameron Swain, (Th.M.) of Trinity Baptist Church of Millsboro, Delaware. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org. If you would honor David and his memory, do something nice but unexpected for someone else; that’s what David would do!
He will be very, very missed. Arrangements by Lofland Funeral Home, Milford. Letters of condolence may be shared with the family at www.loflandandmcknatt.com.
