Clara C. Maloney, 91, originally of Milford, Delaware, passed away at the Shady Oaks Assisted Living facility in Bristol, Connecticut on Sunday May 21, 2023. Clara was born on May 12, 1932, in Milford, to William H. Coverdale and Letha (Harrington) Coverdale. She graduated from Milford High School in 1950. On March 24, 1951, she married her childhood sweetheart, Cecil Maloney and they remain married until he passed in 2019.
Clara worked at L.D. Caulk Company, at the Milford High School Library as a Librarian and at Marvel Agency as an insurance agent and office manager for over eleven years, during that time she also worked part time at the Milford Public Library. After she left the Marvel Agency, she joined the Bank of Delaware and remained with it when it became PNC. She spent over twenty years in banking as a Branch Administrator. She loved working with the public and helping people with their banking questions and concerns.
When Clara retired from banking, she volunteered at the Milford Public Library and at the Hospital Gift Shop alongside her husband, Cecil. Clara’s hobbies included collecting Hummels and proudly displaying them throughout their home. She took ceramics classes many years ago and made many wonderful pieces which she gave to friends and family. Clara was an avid reader and was frequently curled up with a good book. The only thing she loved more than that was to be curled up with one of the many loving cats that shared their home over the years.
She was survived by her daughter Connie Sundblade and her significant other, Dave Coles, of New Britain, Connecticut. Clara was preceded in death by her parents and her late husband, Cecil, to whom she was married for 68 years. Clara and Cecil shared an apartment at the Shady Oaks Assisted Living facility in Bristol, Connecticut from 2017 until his passing in 2019. Clara remained at Shady Oaks until her passing in May of this year.
