Christine "Mumsie" Layman Obituary

Christine T. “Mumsie” Layman, 71, of Milford, Delaware died suddenly at home on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 and has been reunited with husband Gary in Heaven. Christine was born in Regensburg, Germany, the daughter of the late Wolfgang and Anna (Heitzer) Eckert. While living in England in 1966, Christine met her late husband Gary Layman, whom she married in 1967. She came to the United States of America and received her American Citizenship in Arkansas in 1969. While living in England, Christine worked as a seamstress. After moving to the United States, she held various jobs throughout the years in some of the local department stores where she lived. Christine was always one to put others needs first. She was a caring, happy, kind, jovial, warm and generous soul. She could strike up a conversation with anyone, even if she had never met them before. She loved people! Christine was an amazing seamstress, and was a wonderful baker and cook, and was well known throughout for the wonderful fudge that she would make every year at Christmas time, which she gladly shared with anyone she met. She also enjoyed watching English soccer. Most important to Christine, was her family whom she cherished deeply. She was the greatest Mom ever!

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Gary W. Layman in 2014 and her brother Gunther Eckert in 2017.

She is survived by her daughter Theresia Layman and her companion Anthony Bennett; two sisters Sonya Eckert Leach and Lisa Eckert Blanes; her two grand kitties Lily and Bluebell; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
