Charlotte Ann Davis

Charlotte Ann Davis, age 87, of Milford, Delaware, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on December 28, 2023 at Bayhealth Hospital in Milford. She was born March 19, 1936 in Wilmington, DE to Lester Noble and Gladys (Hendricks) Case.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death, by two months, her loving husband, Marvin Davis, her step-father, John Burton Case, and a grandson, Ryan Davis.

Charlotte attended Harrington High School graduating in 1954. She continued her education at Milford Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1957 as a Registered Nurse. She wed the love of her life, Marvin James Davis, on November 16, 1957. Charlotte was a labor and delivery nurse at Milford Hospital for many years and then joined Dr. Thomas Dyer in his OB-Gyn practice. She worked at his office until she retired after 50 years of nursing.

Charlotte was a very active member of Calvary Church in Milford. She was a member of the choir for many years, a member of the women’s circle group, and attended Bible study. She could also be found at Wilson’s Auction looking for Fostoria. She collected the dishes for many years so that each of her grandchildren would have a complete set with all the extra pieces. During the Beanie Baby craze, you could find her with her dear friend, Jean Hankins, out shopping for the hard to find ones. One of Charlotte’s favorite hobbies was baking. She spent many hours in her kitchen baking pies to share and cookies to fill her freezer so they were easy to grab at a moment’s notice.

She is survived by her three children, Jan Donovan (Nelson) of Georgetown, DE, Todd Davis (Diane) of Milford, DE, and Kelly Nelson (Harlan) of Milford, DE. Charlotte was blessed with many grandchildren, Mary Jones (Kyle) of Lewes, DE, Amy Donovan (Zack Bister) of Georgetown, DE, Casey Donovan (Lindsey Perry), of Milford, DE, Brandon Nelson (Alex Mallard) of Milford, DE, and Kylie Nelson of Milford, DE. Other joys were her great-grandchildren, Lukin, Nolan, Deacon, Remy, Ryann, and Rylee. She is also survived by her step-brother, Ronald Case of Newark, DE, niece, Karen Holman (Matt) of Sarasota, FL, and nephew, Blair Case of Newark, DE.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford on Friday, January 5, 2024 where a visitation will be held from 11am – 1pm. Burial will be at Milford Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Calvary Church, 301 S.E. Front St, Milford, DE 19963.
