Cathy A. Sheppard

Cathy A. Sheppard age 77 of Windber Woods, PA  passed away on April 27, 2024 After a long illness. She was born September 26, 1946 in Milford, Delaware the daughter of Evan T. Shourds, Sr. and Catherine W. Shourds. She graduated from Milford High School in 1964. She enrolled in Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia, but then decided she wanted to be closer to family and transferred to the University of Delaware..  She graduated in 1969 with a degree in elementary education.  She was an elementary school teacher in Townsend, Delaware until she decided to stay home to raise her son Brian. During this phase of her life she often volunteered to help with school events, and was an active volunteer for Read Aloud Delaware. She was also the caretaker for her mother in the last three years of her mother‘s life

Cathy had a deep love of animals with horses and cats being her favorite. In her younger years, she loved riding and showing her horses.  She also had many pet cats over the years whom she cherished and particularly enjoyed entering them in cat shows. She was particularly fond of Siamese cats.

Later in life, she worked as a veterinary assistant at several animal hospitals in Delaware and one in Long Island, New York.  Cathy always had a desire to be a nurse and decided to go back to college to become one. She had almost finished the program to be an LPN when unfortunately health forced her to retire. She is predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her brother Evan T. Shourds, Jr, her son Brian Sheppard and his wife LaChecha, and her nephew Zachary Shourds.

Services for Cathy will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford, where friends may call from 12 to 1 PM. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln, DE. Letters of condolence may be shared with the family at www.loflandandmcknatt.com.
