Atwood "Paw" Tucker Jr.: A Life Lived to the Fullest
Atwood Tucker Jr., a man known for his unwavering loyalty, work ethic, and steadfast love for his family, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024. Born on March 17, 1936, in Greenwood, Delaware, Atwood was affectionately known as "Paw" by his loved ones and "Mr. Walmart" in the community. Atwood, a man who lived life to the fullest, left an enduring legacy that continues to inspire those who knew him.
Atwood dedicated his life to his family and his 69-year marriage to his beloved wife, Mary Frances, stands as a testament to his unwavering love and commitment. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and countless cherished memories.
Atwood's legacy extends far beyond his immediate family. He leaves behind two children, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, each carrying a piece of his vibrant spirit. He is survived by his wife Mary Frances, children, Bruce Tucker and wife Wende and Shelley Tucker Moffett and her partner Craig Jahelka; grandchildren Nathaniel Murphy and wife Kristal, Chris Tucker, Ashley Witmer and husband Eric, Lacey Moffett and partner Chad Behney, Jordan Tucker, and David Moffett; great grandchildren Miles Murphy, Owen Tucker, Cailyn Tucker, Madison Layton, Henley Witmer, Auden Witmer, and Finley Cleveland and his brothers, Donald and David, will forever hold close the memories they shared with their beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother.
Atwood was preceded in death by his parents, Atwood Sr. and Hilda Tucker, and his brother, Joseph Tucker. While his passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched.
Atwood was a pillar of his community. He earned local celebrity status while working as a door greeter at Walmart in Milford, earning him the nickname Mr. Walmart. Everyone that interacted with Atwood left with a smile on their face. A charter member of the Milford Elks Lodge, he dedicated himself to helping others and making a positive impact in the lives of those around him. His compassionate nature and desire to lend a helping hand were evident in everything he did. He was a man who embraced life with open arms, a devoted family man, a loyal friend, and a passionate Phillies fan. He was an accomplished golfer and earned the title of club champion at Shawnee Country Club.
Services will be held at 1 PM on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford, Delaware where a viewing will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
