Michael Scanlan Obituary

Michael James Scanlan, 69, of Ocean View, DE passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Christiana Hospital, Newark. Michael was born in Chester, PA and grew up in Claymont, was the son of the late James Michael and Hazel Eleanor (Davis) Scanlan. He served in the U.S. Air Force National Guard. He retired from the State of Delaware as a Human Resources Manager. He loved fishing, being on his boat and enjoyed his flowers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Mark.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years Deborah McKnatt Scanlan; one daughter Lisa Stratton and her husband Joe, of Morton, PA; one son Michael J. Scanlan, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ; one step-son Michael Ford; one brother Brian Scanlan and his wife Elaine, of Dover; three grandchildren Cade, Corrinne and Sara; and his beloved dog Angi.

A viewing will be held from 12 - 2 pm on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, 50 Commerce Street, Harrington where a funeral service will follow at 2 pm. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
