Mary Pendleton, 93, of Dover, DE, formerly of Milford, DE and Bristol, RI, passed peacefully on Friday, September 14, 2018 in the Milford Hospice Center, Milford, DE. Mary was born on September 30, 1924 in Bristol, RI, the oldest daughter of late Joseph and Artemizia (DeSousa) Cordeiro. Mary was the oldest daughter of 14 children. She worked as a seamstress for many years before marrying (the late) Jasper “Jack” Pendleton in 1955. Mary and Jack moved to Milford with their four boys in September of 1972. Mary was a devout Catholic attending St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Milford and St. Elizabeth’s Church in Bristol. Mary retired from the L.D. Caulk Company of Milford in 1986 where she was a production supervisor. Mary had a passion for baking. She was known among family and friends for her love of baking and decorating cakes, cookies, and for making her “sweet bread”. Mary was also a very talented seamstress, sewing clothes and crafts her entire life.
She is survived by her four sons; Robert and his wife Marisa, New Haven, CT; John and his wife Janice, Marydel, DE; Keith and his wife Jean, Lakeland, FL; Brian and his wife Sharon, Hartly, DE and by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters; Artemizia and her husband Joseph Medeiros of Warren, RI; Theresa Kruger of Bristol; Laura Ochs of Warren, RI; Virginia Cordeiro (Sister Elizabeth of Sisters of Charity) of Baltic, CT; Lorraine and husband Moses Calouro of Bristol; and sisters-in-law Dorothy Cordeiro of Dover, Doris Cordeiro of Carver, MA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 18 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Seabury Avenue and School Place, Milford, DE. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Rt. 113, Milford, DE. Family and Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 17, or from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 18 at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford, DE.
