Joseph T. Szajewski

Joseph T. Szajewski, 71, of Harrington, died suddenly on Sunday, November 3, at his home. Mr. Szajewski was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a retired chemistry teacher. He had taught at Wesley College, Indian River School District and Lake Forest School District. He served on the state’s Science Advisory Council for many years and had been one of the original members of the Delaware Science Olympiad. He was a past member of the Greenwood Lions Club. Some of the life events Joe enjoyed most were PEZ collecting, cruises with his wife, hunting and sporting clays, golfing, community theater, and, best of all, time at Space Camp.
 
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane (Janie), sister Irene Gajc, brother Richard Szajewski, sister-in-law Jackie Sullivan; nieces Valerie (Rob), Jessica, Monica, Theresa, and Shelly (Brian); and nephews Peter (Beatriz), Bill (Marlene), Pat (Linda), Christian, Jeff (Rachel), and Mike (Jana).
 
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on November 16, 2019 at Prospect U.M. Church, 5183 Vernon Road, Harrington. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Prospect Church United Methodist Women (please note Nite Lites on the memo line), P.O. Box 342, Harrington, DE  19952.
