Following his time in the Coast Guard, he went to work at King Cole in Milton for a short time before going to work at I.G. Burton in the auto body shop for about 12 years. He loved animals, all kinds of music, racing and was always working on cars. He enjoyed living on the Mispillion River and taking his pontoon boat out for excursions and "cruises" along the river. He had a mind of his own and didn't mind speaking out. He also was one of the Coffee Shop Boys and could be found sitting with his friends out front of Dolce' along Walnut Street in Milford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Jimmy Mills.

He is survived by his companion Joan Johnson; his brother Albert "Butch" Baker and his companion Nancy; a granddaughter he considered as his own Vanessa Johnson; an aunt Fannie Mae Wilkins; a niece Rachel and several cousins.
