Ronald Wilkins of Lincoln, DE went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 surrounded by his family and friends at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford after a long, courageous battle with heart failure. 

Ronald was born in Bound Brook, NJ on September 25, 1940, the son of the late Mary and Roger Wilkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son James Steward Wilkins. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Claire Wilkins, of Lincoln, DE; two sons, Richard Wilkins (Ms. Jamie Neff), of Bryan, Texas, and David Wilkins, of Flemington, NJ; and a daughter Cherie Wilkins, of Milford, DE; two brothers, Howard Wilkins, of Bridgeton, NJ and Roger Wilkins, of Richmond, VA; and 5 grandchildren, Rhonda Wilkins, of Lincoln, DE, Jillian Wilkins, of Milford, DE and Taryn, Chelsea and Kyle Wilkins, all of NJ.

Ron graduated from Somerville High School in the Class of 1959. He served in the United States Army, owned the Three Bridges General Store in New Jersey, and his own limousine company before retiring to Delaware. He is a lifetime member of the Three Bridges Volunteer Fire Company and a member of the Lincoln United Methodist Church.

In his earlier days, he enjoyed photography and was a motorcycle enthusiast. During retirement, he and his wife loved spending time with family and playing cards with their friends. 

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 am on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Lincoln United Methodist Church, 8641 Second Street, Lincoln, DE where funeral services will be held at 11 am. Committal with Military Honors will be held at 2 pm at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to either the Lincoln United Methodist Church, PO Box 85, Lincoln, DE 19960 or to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE  19963.
