Peter Joseph Sansone

Peter Joseph Sansone, 88, of Milford, DE passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. Peter was born in Patterson, NJ the son of the late Joseph P. and Concetta Marie (Mercurio) Sansone. He was a graduate of East Side High School in Patterson. After high school, Peter enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving during W.W. II. Following the war, he began working at A & P Grocery Store in New Jersey then in Virginia Beach, VA working until 1986, retiring as a produce manager. Peter was a member of the N.R.A., a proud supporter of the F.O.P. and an avid supporter of Donald Trump for President.  He loved playing cards and bowling in the local bowling leagues. Most important to Peter was his family. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Spending time with them was the highlight of his life. He did remark many times that he missed enjoying his mother's lemon pies. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two daughters Karen Sansone and Patti Samford; a sister Anne Basil and a brother Andy Sansone.

He is survived by his children Peggy Voll and her husband Al of NY, Wayne Sansone and his wife Janet, of Laurel, Sharon Grant and her husband Donnie, of Laurel, Melinda Meding and her husband Robbie, of Milford, two sisters Nadine Kole, of MA and Dot Duelffer and her husband Al, of NJ; 19 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 19 great great grandchildren.

Committal services with military honors will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to either Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE  19963 or make checks payable to Bayhealth Foundation, 640 South State Street, Dover, DE 19901.( Please note that the check is in memory of Peter Sansone).
