Katherine Anne Edith Challis, 86, of Harrington, DE passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015 at home surrounded  by her family. Katherine was born in England, the daughter of the late Charles Alfred and Annie Charlotte (Hillman) King. She immigrated to the United States of America with her husband Alan in 1957, and shortly thereafter, both became citizens of the United States. She worked as a seamstress for many years. She was a member of the Harrington Senior Center and also the Faith Community Church in Dover. She liked to do arts and crafts and loved lighthouses. She was also an avid painter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother.

She is survived by her daughter Patricia June Challis; her son Alan Charles Challis, Jr.; her sister June McCarthy; 9 grandchildren and her very dear friends Sue Dunn, Elsie Dear, and Bob and Lettie Graves.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to either the Harrington Senior Center, 102 Fleming Street, Harrington, DE  19952 or to the Houston Fire Company, P.O. Box 122, Houston De, 19954.
