Welcome to the memorial page for

Johnny Lynn Holman

June 25, 1945 ~ July 24, 2017 (age 72) 72 Years Old

Johnny Lynn Holman, 72, departed his worldly home on July 24, 2017 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford; where he had been admitted on July 22, 2017. Johnny was born June 25, 1945 in Franklin Parish Louisiana. Johnny worked in the grocery business all his life.  He started working at a curb market when he was a young boy.  His enjoyment of working with and for people continued throughout his life.  He took other jobs such as driving tractor trailers or working with  chicken catching crews and served in the National Guard for a period of time.  However, he always returned to the grocery and merchandising business.  He started working for Acme Markets in 1975 as a part time Porter and was promoted to full time within a couple years.

Johnny served in almost every grocery department in the various stores he worked.   The phrase “people person” could have been coined by him.  After 32 years, he retired from the Smyrna Acme in 2007.  During those years he developed many friends within his Acme family.  Johnny’s motto was “everything is lovely”.
He enjoyed working so much that he volunteered to assist others with their routes.  Johnny enjoyed watching NASCAR, football, boxing and old westerns.  He loved being outdoors.  Johnny loved to cook on the grill in the summertime.  He tended his garden and raised veggies he wouldn’t eat in order to give to others that enjoyed them. Johnny was so proud of his new “Bad Boy” lawn machine for cutting grass.  He was the only landlord around that would offer to cut the grass for his tenants so he could ride his zero turn.  If you knew Johnny then you knew he enjoyed sharing a drink with friends and talking a spell. He was preceded in death by his parents, John F. Holman in 1952, Edith M. Holleyman in April 2017 and his step-father, John (Tex) Holleyman in 2010.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Holman of Milford; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Tony Davila of Frederica; daughter, Jennifer Lynn Holman of Harrington and grandson, Blake Holman; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 6 pm to 8pm on Sunday July 30, 2017 at Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford.  Funeral services officiated by Pastor Troy Lavallee will be held at 11 am on Monday July 31 after viewing from 10 am to 11 am.
