James D. Elder, 76, of Magnolia, DE passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, James was born in Clinton, MA the son of the late David and Margaret (Kipp) Elder. James was a graduate of Dover High School. After school, he served in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. He owned and operated Elders Home Beautiful Furniture Store in Dover for many years before retiring. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Dover. In his spare time, he owned both quarter horses and race horses. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Margaret. 

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Dorothy Marie (Dill) Elder; three daughters Michelle Slover, Linda Hall and Karen Pappas; one son David Elder; one sister Lillian; and 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren

A Celebration of James Life will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 237 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, DE. Burial will be at 2 pm in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE  19963. Arrangements by Lofland Funeral Home, Milford.
