Harry H. Dutton of Georgetown, Delaware, died peacefully at home surrounded by his closest family members on Tuesday, July 19th, 2016.  He was 84 years old.  Harry was born on April 21st, 1932 and he grew up in Milton.  He began a successful racing career in the 1950’s at local tracks such as Little Lincoln, Georgetown, and DE International Speedways.  Harry won a host of feature events and championships before becoming a car owner.  As a car owner, he jump-started the careers of drivers like Harold Bunting and Eddie Pettyjohn. One of his greatest accomplishments was building his own motors and racing them.  Harry passed his passion for the sport onto his children who all grew up around the local tracks and have been involved with racing at one time or another.  
    
Always a straight shooter, you never had to question where you stood with Harry.  He was quick to tell you what he thought.  He was honest and hard-working.  He believed in firm hand-shake deals and honor.  Harry always said that a man was only as good as his word.  And he lived by his word.  If he told you something, he was going to see it through…no matter what.  Harry worked hard and he played hard.  He loved his children, family, and close friends and would do anything for them.  Harry was one of a kind and if you were privileged enough to know him, no doubt you have a story or two to tell.  He truly will be missed.

At his request, there will be no viewing or funeral.  Harry always said if you couldn’t come see him when he was living, don’t bother to come see him now that he is dead.  Therefore, we are going to honor his final wishes and as per usual, Harry is going to get the final say.  After all, he is still our Dad.
