Donald Phillip Tatman, 73

Milford- Donald Phillip Tatman passed away peacefully on September 20, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on May 13, 1943 in Doylestown, Pa. to Lawrence P. and Margaret B. Tatman.  He graduated from Milford High School in 1961 and in 1969, married Cynthia L. Jester.

Donald was a farmer since 1968, and he and his wife also owned and operated Tatman Excavating for 41 years.   He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church for 59 years, joining in 1957.  

Donald had a variety of life-time interests which included antiquing, working on old cars, attending car shows with his 1965 Corvette, and driving his little red corvette through over 200 parades, his favorites being The Returns Day Parade in Georgetown and his home town Milford Halloween parade. He was the official driver, for the Miss Delaware organization, volunteering his time for 22 years, carrying each Miss Delaware in parades throughout the state, since 1993.   He loved spending time at the Delaware State Fair, attending Miss Delaware pageants, joining his classmates at monthly luncheons and caring for his special kitties. He also enjoyed daily visits to the Milford Diner and Westside restaurants, where he loved to talk and share his great sense of humor with all he would encounter. He had a passion for farming and loved his farm in Farmington, Delaware, which he maintained and operated for many years.  Above all he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Charles P. Tatman.

Donald is survived by a beloved wife of 47 years, Cynthia (Cindy) L. Tatman, and one daughter, Cynthia  (Cindy) L. Tatman-Hogan and husband, Mark Hogan and one grand-daughter, Taylor L. Hogan, all of Milford.  

A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church in Milford, on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, where friends may call from 11:00a.m.-1:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Milford Community Cemetery Milford, Delaware. The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to the staff of Bay Health Hospital-Milford, NIH- National Institute of Health, Bethesda, Md. and Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to Calvary United Methodist Church,  301 South East Front Street, Milford, Delaware, 19963. In addition, the family would like to express its sincere appreciation to his church family, Pastor Isaacs, all of his special friends, classmates and family that have shown their love and support throughout his illness.
