David R. Spray, 68, of Milford, DE passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Christiana Hospital, Newark. David was born in Belleville, ILL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as First Mate on the aircraft carrier USS Hancock during the Vietnam War. He worked as a field engineer for D.R.S. Technologies based in St. Louis, MO for 38 years. David's home base was at the Dover Air Force Base, but he was responsible for an area spanning from North Dakota east to Greenland and south to Georgia. He would be available at a moments notice to travel to these locations to troubleshoot any issues that would occur on many of the bases found in the region. David was a Mason, a member of Bassmasters, the American Legion Post # 3 and the Blue Hen Post 6483, both in Milford as well as a proud member of the N.R.A. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and even enjoyed shopping at either Cabela's or Bass Pro Shops. He was preceded by his adoptive parents Jack and Beatrice Spray.

He is survived by his wife Barbara (Moody) Spray, two daughters Rebecca Pottruff and her husband Jerry and Katharine Libs and her husband Howard; his biological mother Helen Schackmann; his siblings Cindy, Keith and Caroline as well as 8 grandchildren.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Being David was an avid supporter of the Fort Custer Group Leader Veterans Hunt, his family would like contributions in his memory by making checks payable to the "Fort Custer Group Leaders" and mailed to FCTC - ENV, C/O Jonathan Edgerly, 2501 26th Street, August, MI  49012. Arr. by Lofland Funeral Home, Milford, DE.
