Carl M. Wright, 83, of Harrington, DE passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the Milford Center. Carl was born in Vernon, DE the son of the late George and Myrtle (Bowen) Wright. He was a farmer. Carl served as the Kent County Sheriff for 16 years, serving during the late 1970's into the 1980's. He was a life member of the Harrington Fire Company, where he had the privilege of serving as Ambulance Captain and as head of the Fire Police for many years. He was also a member of the Harrington Lions Club, the Harrington Bowling Team, and served on the Board of Directors of the Delaware Electric Cooperative. He loved to bowl and was an avid softball player. For many years, he could be found every morning at Peoples Restaurant.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Audrey (Billings) Wright; 2 brothers Albert Wright and his wife Mary Lou, and Ray Wright and his friend Val; two nephews Thomas Wright and his wife Thelma, and Richard Wright; one great niece Dana Enger; two great nephews Ryan Wright and Brady Wright and his beloved dog Missy.

A viewing will be held from 11 am to 1 pm on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, 50 Commerce Street, Harrington where funeral services will be held at 1 pm. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Milford - Harrington Highway, Harrington.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to either the Harrington Senior Center, 102 Fleming Street, Harrington, DE 19952 or to Prospect Church, P.O. Box 342, Harrington, DE  19952.
